![]() ![]() The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations in 1948, is one of the most significant international instruments that enshrine a range of human rights. Governments, international organizations, and civil society groups often work to promote and protect rights through the development of laws, policies, and advocacy campaigns. It is important to note that the recognition and protection of rights is typically seen as a key component of a just and democratic society. These entitlements are considered to be inherent to all human beings, and are often seen as essential for the promotion of human dignity, equality, and justice. The concept of “rights” refers to a set of entitlements or freedoms that are granted to individuals or groups by law or custom. Hence, it specifically answers the questions, what are rights and what are the kinds of rights. In these notes, I will discuss the meaning of rights and kinds of rights. ![]()
